The White-throated Sierra-finch is distributed in the Andes of southern Peru, south-west Bolivia and the extreme north of Chile. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

White-throated Sierra-finch, Lauca N. P., Chile, February 2007 - click for larger image It is found around rocky borders to bofedal bogs at between 3,800 and 4,500 metres.

It is grey above with darker grey wings. Below it has a triangular white throat patch and a grey breast-band. There is a small white crescent below the eye.
