The Common Diuca-finch is distributed in Chile and in Argentina. It is indeed common and is found in farmland, forest edges and gardens.

It is a large finch with a long tail and a peaked crown. The male is grey on the head and upperparts while below it has a white throat, a grey breast band and flanks and a white belly in an inverted V shape. The crissum is cinnamon, the bill is blue-grey with a darker, curved maxilla and there are small white crescents above and below the eyes. The female is browner.
