Pico Bonito, Honduras March 2015 The Violet Sabrewing is distributed from southern Mexico to Panama. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in the undergrowth and at the edges of forest as well as gardens and clearings near forest. |

It has a long, decurved black bill and white edges to the broad tail. The male, seen here in photo 1, is violet blue on the head, underparts and upper back while the female has grey underparts and green upperparts. | |||
