| Brazil The Grey-breasted Sabrewing is found east of the Andes in tropical South America. It prefers forest borders and clearings, usually at low to mid levels where it often perches conspicuously. |

| It is a fairly large and dull hummingbird whose main identification features are the broad white tips to its dark blue tail and the prominent white spot behind its eye. The upperparts are a metallic green while its underparts are uniform grey. The bill is slightly decurved.
