Unicolored Blackbird Agelasticus  cyanopus
(aka Agelaius cyanopus,  Chrysomus cyanopus)

Brazilian name: carretão
Pantanal, Mato Grosso, Brazil

This bird is fairly common around marshes and ponds so the Pantanal is an ideal habitat.

The entirely glossy black male has a particularly long and slender bill which helps to identify it from the Chopi Blackbird.

This immature shows the rufous-chestnut on the wings, the fading yellowish supercilium and the dirty yellow underparts.

There is an illustration of a sub adult male and a female on Sick, Plate 39
