The Turquoise Jay is distributed on both slopes of the Andes mainly in Ecuador but also in the extreme south of Colombia and the extreme north of Peru. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found between 2,000 and 3,000 metres in upper subtropical and temperate forest and woodland.
