The Tawny-throated Dotterel nominate sub-species is distributed from southern Peru south through Bolivia and Chile to Patagonia with a disjunct population of the sub-species O. r. pallidus on the coast of northern Peru. These photos are of the latter. The nominate form also migrates to eastern Argentina and south-east Brazil during the austral winter. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.
