The Striolated Puffbird is found from the Belém area to western Amazonia, Mato Grosso and into Bolivia.

It seems to prefer forest edges.

Striolated Puffbird, Carajás, Pará, Brazil, February 2002 - click for larger image The upperparts are brown and it has a chestnut crown. Underparts are creamy-yellow with dark stripes. The tail is barred brown and cream and the bill is pale with a darkish tip.
