The Southern Rough-winged Swallow is generally greyish-brown on its upperparts. It has a cinnamon throat above generally greyish brown underparts except for pale yellow on the belly and undertail coverts.

Southern Rough-winged Swallow, Serra de Carajás, Pará, Brazil, October 2005 - click for larger image It is found in South America from Buenos Aires northward (See the distribution map at xeno-canto.) and is replaced in North America by the Northern Rough-winged Swallow (Stelgidopteryx serripennis).

It does in fact have a "rough wing" with the outer edge of the outer primary having a serrated edge.
