| Sick's Swift Chaetura meridionalis (aka Southern Swift, Ashy-tailed Swift Chaetura andrei) Brazilian name: Andorinhão-do-temporal | ||||
| | São Fernando de Paraguaçu, Bahia, Brazil November 2008 Southern Swift is considered by some authorities to be a subspecies of Ashy-tailed Swift C. andrei. Other authorities consider it to be a full species while they consider C. andrei to be a sub-species of Vaux's Swift C. vauxi . All rather confusing really. The HBW and Birdlife International Checklist treats Southern Swift C. meridionalis as a species and Andre's Swift C. v. andrei as a sub-species of Vaux's Swift C. vauxi. | |||
