The Orange-fronted Yellow-finch is distributed in the Orinoco Basin, the central Amazon Basin and in the interior of eastern Brazil. It is usually found in bushes near water and sometimes around houses but not in towns.

Male Orange-fronted Yellow-finch, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, July 2004 - click for larger image It is similar to Saffron Finch but is smaller, has an orange forecrown and darkish lores. Females are olive-brown above and dirty white below. These photos are of the sub-species S. c. goeldi where both male and female have an orange tinge to the breast.
