Pichincha, Ecuador November 2019 The Orange-fronted Barbet is distributed in rainforest on the western slopes of the Andes in south-west Colombia and north-western Ecuador. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. Its population is declining due to habitat loss and so it is classified as Near Threatened. |

The female in photo 1 has a black throat and breast contrasting with the male in photo 2 where this is replaced
by creamy-white to yellow.
The song is a low-volume trill sounding like a distant motorbike. |
