The Orange-breasted Fruiteater is distributed on the western slope of the Andes in Colombia and Ecuador. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in humid forest at between 600 and 1,700 metres.

The male in photos 1 and 2, is noted for its black head and throat and its bright orange chest above its yellow belly. The female in photo 3 is streaked green and pale yellow underneath..
