It
is normally found at fairly high elevations and Chilean populations are at
between 2,000 and 3,800 metres. It is often near cliffs in shrubby areas
or puna grasslands. It is a very small parrot about the size of a budgerigar with green upperparts and varying amounts of yelloe below depending on the sub-species. The bill is usually yellow in the male and greyish in the female. The primaries are blue. There are recordings and a distribution map on xeno-canto . |
