The Green-breasted Mango is distributed from Mexico to Panama with a disjunct population in north-east Colombia and northern Venezuela. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in a variety of open habitats often near water.

These photos show male birds with black surrounded by deep blue in the centre of the throat and breast with the remaining underparts bright green. The female is mainly white below with a black central stripe. The female also has white tips to the tail which are lacking in the male where the outer four tail feathers are purple edged with black
