| Field Flicker (Colaptes campestris campestroides) |
||||
| Barra do Guaraí, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil August 2004 Although Field Flicker has been treated by some authorities as a species in the past, it has been found to hybridise with Campo Flicker C. campestris so should be regarded as a sub-species of the latter. This subspecies is distributed in eastern Argentina, Uruguay, southern Paraguay and southern Brazil, specifically Rio Grande do Sul state. It is distinguished from the nominate by the whitish chin and throat which makes the malar stripe more pronounced. |
