Eastern Striped Manakin was split from Western Striped Manakin M. striolatus by Dr. David Snow in HBW, Volume 9 but most authorities continue to lump these two species together as Striped Manakin.

Male Eastern Striped Manakin, REGUA, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 2006 - click for larger image Eastern Striped Manakin is distributed in south-east Brazil from Bahia to Rio de Janeiro. It is found in lowland Atlantic Rain Forest.

The male has a red crown and nape, olive upperparts and whitish underparts with brownish streaks.
