The Club-winged Manakin is distributed on the Pacific slope of the Andes in western Colombia and western Ecuador. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in forest mainly between 600 and 1,600 metres.

This photo is of a female showing cinnamon-rufous on the face and yellow at the bend of the wing. The male is more spectacular being brown with a scarlet crown and black and white wings. It is the males display with its wings, accompanied by a metallic "kip" followed by a "beeuww" as the wings are held upwards exposing the white that gives the bird its English name.
