It is found in scrubby woodland including this espinilho habitat, deciduous forest and gallery forest. |

![]() | It is a large member of the Ovenbird family with generally reddish-brown plumage with more rufous on the head and crest, rump and tail. The iris is pale yellow and the bill is light grey with a darker maxilla. Like other members of the genus, it has a loud, grating voice. It is usually seen in pairs or small groups and eats insects, seeds and fruit. |
