The Bronze-winged Parrot is distributed from the extreme west of Venezuela to the extreme north of Peru. In Ecuador it is found to the west of the Andes up to an altitude of about 1,400 metres. See the distribution map at xeno-canto.

It has virtually no green in its plumage and is mainly dark blue with bronzy wings, a deep red crissum and a whitish throat. The bill is pale yellow and the ring around the eye is whitish to pinkish.
