The Blue-headed Parrot is one of the most common parrots in tropical South America. There are three subspecies and this is a photo of the nominate subspecies.

Note the blue head and the red undertail coverts.

Blue-headed Parrot, Cristalino, Mato Grosso, Brazil, April 2003 - click for larger image In flight it has a distinctive low wing stroke with the wings almost touching below the body. They are often found in large flocks.
