| Black-and-white Warbler (Mniotilta varia) |
| La Güira, Cuba February 2005 The Black-and-white Warbler breeds from Canada to the southern USA and winters in southern USA, the West Indies, Central America and northern South America. It is found in forests and gardens. |
| It has bold lengthwise stripes of black and white both above and on the flanks. It is a very busy little bird creeping and darting along branches looking for insects. I found it hard to get a good shot of it. The scientific name derives from the Greek mnion = moss and tilo = to pluck, a reference to its supposed nesting material according to Jobling. |
