Montezuma, Tatamá, Risaralda, Colombia, Colombia April 2012 The Barred Fruiteater is distributed in the Andes from western Venezuela to western Bolivia. See the distribution map at NatureServe. It is found in montane forest and in forest borders mainly between 2,200 and 3,300 metres. |

A member of the Cotinga family, it is the largest Fruiteater. It has coral red bill and legs and underparts are barred black and yellow. The
male has the head, throat and breast glossy black which is lacking in the female shown here.
The song is a high-pitched whistle. |
