White-throated Honeyeater is distributed in northern Australia and eastern Australia from Cape York south to north-east New South Wales. There is also a population in New Guinea. It is found in forest, woodlands and, in this case, paperbark woodland close to water.

It is similar to other Melithreptus honeyeaters but has a pure white throat.
