Menindee, NSW and Kakadu, Northern Territory, Australia The Red-kneed Dotterel is distributed throughout Australia but mainly on inland wetlands. It is occasionally seen at the coast except in eastern Australia. |

It has a blackish hood and breastband round a white throat. Above it is mid-brown with a white line between the wing and the black to chestnut line on the flanks. The "knee" is a dull red as can be seen in photos 2, 3 and 4. The bill is dull red with a blackish tip. | |||
