Kuranda, Queensland, Australia November 2010 The Red-backed Fairy-wren is distributed from north-western Australia across the north of Australia to Cape York and south to eastern New South Wales. It is found in a wide variety of habitats but mainly in tall grassland with scattered trees. |

The male is black with red-orange back and rump and brown primaries. The female is light brown with pale to white
underparts, with pinkish-brown bill and legs.
