The Pink Robin is distributed in southern Victoria and south-east New South Wales as well as in Tasmania. In the breeding season it is found in damp forest such as fern tree gullies though in autumn and winter it moves to more open habitat.

Male Pink Robin, Tarra Bulga NP, Victoria, Australia, April 2006 - click for larger image These pictures were taken in a beautiful fern tree gully in Tarra Bulga NP but the bird was distant and the light was poor so that even at ISO 800 I could only manage a speed of 1/80 at f5.6. Consequently the images leave a lot to be desired and don't rule out the possibility that this is a Rose Robin P. rosea. Any comments from folk that know these two species better than I do would be most welcome at arthur@arthurgrosset.com.
