Australia February 2006 The Hoary-headed Grebe is distributed throughout Australia including Tasmania. It is found in open wetland habitats including seasonal inland lakes as well as on brackish or salt water bodies at the coast. |

Breeding adults show fine white streaks on the head looking like scruffy hair. Otherwise it is grey to buff and the bill is dark with a pale tip. | |||
