The Great Crested Grebe is distributed throughout most of Europe and across southern Asia to China. It is also found in Australasia and parts of Africa. This is the sub-species P. c. australis which is very similar to the nominate but tends to keep its breeding plumage throughout the year. See photos of nominate.

This is not a great photo but it shows a Great Crested Grebe resting in a typical pose with its neck bent backward and its bill tucked into its body. The bird in the foreground is a Common Coot Fulica atra.
