The Diamond Dove is endemic to Australia where it is distributed in the drier areas of the interior. It is found in arid or semi-arid grassland with nearby sources of water.

Photo 3 is of a juvenile bird which has grey legs, a buffy eyering and wing-bars rather than spots on the wings.
