Australia Originally a bird of dry wooded grassland in the interior, the Crested Pigeon has benefited by the spread of agriculture and habitation and is now found throughout Australia except in the driest deserts and the densest forests. |

The slender black crest is the dominant feature but, in the right light the iridescent bronze, green and purple
on the secondary coverts and secondaries are equally spectacular.
Its bowing display and general sexual behaviour are similar to other pigeons in the Bronzewing group. |
