|Greater Crested Tern Thalasseus bergii
(aka Sterna bergii)
The Greater Crested Tern is distributed around the coasts of Australia, Pacific Islands, southern Asia and southern and eastern Africa. In eastern Australia the breeding season is September to December and they tend to breed in large colonies.
|Note the long pale yellow bill and black legs. Photos 1, 2 and 5 show adults in breeding plumage, photo 3 shows an adult moving into non-breeding plumage and photos 4 and 5 show immatures.|
