||||
| Bool Lagoon, SA, Australia February 2006 The Collared Sparrowhawk is distributed in Australia and Papua New Guinea. It is found in forest, woodland and scrub but not in areas without trees nor in dense rainforest. |
||||
| It is very similar in plumage to the Brown Goshawk A. fasciatus with the adult being grey-brown above with a rufous collar and fine rufous and white barring below. These photos are of a juvenile and show heavy brown streaks on the throat and chest and heavy brown barring on the belly and thighs. In flight compared to the Brown Goshawk it is smaller with more delicate wings, a square or notched tail, a smaller head and a shorter neck. |
