Al Ain, Abu Dhabi The Greater White-fronted Goose breeds in the tundra of Russia, Siberia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland and overwinters in the temperate regions further south in the northern hemisphere. The birds that appear uncommonly in Abu Dhabi are the nominate sub-species from Russia or Siberia. |

Note that these birds, although they have the white forehead, do not have the dark barring on the belly associated with this species. This indicates that these birds are juveniles. For a comparison see my photos of adult birds in Europe. | |||
