Hume's Wheatear is distributed from the south-eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula through southern Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan to Pakistan. It is found in rocky, desert areas especially among boulders with little vegetation.

It has an all-black head, mantle and wings with a white lower back. The throat is black and the remaining underparts are white. The tail is white with a black inverted "T".
