Brown-necked Raven is found in desert and dry grassland from the Sahara of Africa through the Sinai Peninsula to the Middle East, Iran and western Pakistan.

It is slightly smaller than a Raven C. corax but has a slightly thinner bill and a bronzy-brown colour on the neck though this can be difficult to see in some lights.

Compared to the Raven, the call is a bit hoarse and high-pitched and lacks the rolling "r".
