The Red-bellied Lemur is endemic to the rainforests of eastern Madagascar. See the distribution map at IUCN. It is classified as Vulnerable according to the IUCN.

They live in small family groups led by a dominant female. They are active both during the day and during the night and feed on fruit, flowers and leaves.

It is distinguished by the two white patches under the eyes forming "tear drops"
