The Radiated Tortoise is endemic to the dry thorn forests and woodlands of southern Madagascar. See the distribution map at the IUCN Red List.

It has a distinctive high carapace with attractive markings which condemn it to being a target for the international pet trade. This along with habitat loss classify it as Critically Endangered.
