Click Beetles get their name from their ability to flick themselves into the air with an audible click. It will do this if attacked or if it has fallen on its back. It can rise about 30cms in the air.

It feeds on pollen, nectar, flowers, etc..

The larvae are known as wireworms and they can spend up to four years underground before emerging as beetles. They feed on root crops so can be a real pest to gardeners and farmers.
