Tristram's Warbler breeds in the Atlas and related mountains of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and some populations migrate southwards from November to April. It is found on mountain slopes at between 1,000 and 2,500 metres with maquis or garrigue vegetation.

The tail is often held erect as in photo 4.
