Thekla Lark, Boumalne du Dades, Morocco, April 2014 - click for larger image Thekla's Lark is distributed in the Iberian Peninsula and extreme south of France; in North Africa from Western Sahara through Morocco to Egypt; and with a disjunct population in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa. Thekla Lark, Boumalne du Dades, Morocco, April 2014 - click for larger image Breeds in wilder and more arid habitats than Crested Lark G. cristata to which it is very similar in appearance. Thekla Lark is slightly smaller with a shorter, less pointed bill, greyer plumage and generally more distinct streaking on the breast. The crest is less spiky.
