Thekla's Lark is distributed in the Iberian Peninsula and extreme south of France; in North Africa from Western Sahara through Morocco to Egypt; and with a disjunct population in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. | ||||
Breeds in wilder and more arid habitats than Crested Lark G. cristata to which it is very similar in appearance. Thekla Lark is slightly smaller with a shorter, less pointed bill, greyer plumage and generally more distinct streaking on the breast. The crest is less spiky. | ||||
