Spotless Starling Sturnus unicolor
Spotless Starling, Monfrague, Extramadura, Spain, March 2018 - click for larger image The Spotless Starling is distributed around the western Mediterranean in the Iberian Peninsula, northern Africa, southern France and the islands of Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in open woodland, farmyards and gardens and often mixes with Common Starling S. vulgaris including in murmurations prior to roosting.
Spotless Starling, Cataluna, Spain, May 2022 - click for larger image It looks very similar to Common Starling but in spring and summer is entirely without spots. It also sounds like Common Starling.
