Boumalne du Dades, Morocco April 2014 The Buff-rumped Wheatear is distributed in northern Africa and parts of the Middle East. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found at low altitudes in stony semi-desert though it avoids sandy desert. |

It feeds on insects and is to be seen mainly on the ground. It pumps its tail up then lowers it slowly.
Photos 1 and 2 show a male while photo 3 is of a female. The song is sometimes described as a whistling kettle coming to the boil. |
