Lesser Kestrel Falco naumanni |
The Lesser kestrel breeds in southern Europe, northern Africa, central Asia and into China and migrates to Africa south of the Sahara in the northern winter. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It breeds colonially in town and on steep cliffs and this behaviour is one of the ways to distinguish it from the Common Kestrel F. tinnunculus. |
Another distinguishing feature is its trisyllabic rasping call. | ||||
