The Common Firecrest is distributed in west and central Europe, Asia Minor and North Africa. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in deciduous and mixed woods including conifers and this compares to Goldcrest which tend to favour conifers. |

It is very small and superficially similar to Goldcrest. But note the prominent white supercilium and the black eyestripe which gives it a more severe look. It also has
bright greenish-yellow on the side of the neck.
The song is very high pitched. |
