The Corn Bunting is distributed in much of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in steppe, grasslands and agricultural land with song posts such as trees, telephone wires or fence posts.

It is a large heavily built bunting. The bill is stout with a straw-pink lower mandible.
