Andalucia, Spain May 2022 The Black-headed Weaver is distributed in discontinuous areas of Africa from southern Mauritania to Lake Victoria. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. There is an introduced population in the Iberian Peninsula. These photos were taken in Andalucia. It is found near water where there are tall grasses. |

In breeding plumage the male has a black head, a yellow collar and yellow-olive upperparts. It has a black throat with remaining underparts yellow-orange. The female is much duller with no black on the head and a whitish belly. | |||
