The White-collared Thrush is distributed in the Himalayas from northern India to southern China. It is found on the edges of conifer, oak and rhododendron forest at between 2,100 and 4,000 metres.

Male White-collared Blackbird, Drugyel Dzong, Paro, Bhutan, March 2008 - click for larger image The male is black with a broad white collar, yellow eye-ring and yellow bill. Its legs are yellowish-brown. The female, seen in photo 3, has a similar pattern but is brown and greyish-white.
