The White-naped Yuhina is distributed along the Himalayas from northern India through Nepal and Bhutan to southern China, Myanmar and northern Thailand and Indochina. It is found at between 600 and 3,000 metres in the lower storeys of evergreen and deciduous forest.

Whiskered Yuhina, Shemgang, Bhutan, April 2008 - click for larger image It has a pale orange rear collar and a black moustachial stripe. The head and crest are grey and the crest has a dark front. Remaining upperparts are olive-brown while underparts are whitish-yellow with some dark streaks. There is a prominent white ring round the eye which is broken at the front and rear. The bill is horn-coloured above and lighter below. Legs are yellowish.
Whiskered Yuhina, Shemgang, Bhutan, April 2008 - click for larger image They feed in low branches and bushes on insects, small snails, nectar, seeds and berries (photo 3) and often travel in small flocks including mixed flocks of other yuhinas and fulvettas.
