The Wedge-tailed Green-pigeon is distributed from Kashmir along the Himalayas to south central China and south through Thailand, Myanmar and Indochina to the Malay Peninsula, and Indonesia.

It has a wedge-shaped green tail with a yellowish-green head and breast. The male has a maroon patch on the upperwing which is lacking in this female.
